The goal of a Backgammon game is to move your checkers around the Backgammon board and pull them from the board quicker than your opposing player who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a match of Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you can shift your pieces is left to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and the way you shift your checkers are determined by your overall playing strategies. Players use a few plans in the differing stages of a match dependent on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Technique

The goal of the Running Game technique is to entice all your checkers into your home board and get them off as fast as you can. This strategy focuses on the speed of moving your pieces with no time spent to hit or barricade your competitor's checkers. The best time to employ this plan is when you believe you can shift your own pieces quicker than your opposition does: when 1) you have less checkers on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your opponent's checkers; or 3) the opposing player does not employ the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Plan

The main goal of the blocking tactic, by the name, is to block your opponent's chips, temporarily, while not fretting about shifting your checkers rapidly. After you have created the blockage for your competitor's movement with a couple of checkers, you can shift your other checkers rapidly off the game board. The player will need to also have a clear plan when to extract and move the checkers that you used for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when the opponent uses the same blocking technique.
