As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's checkers will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the activity of your competitor, the opponent doesn't even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar - to hurt your competitor's positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game technique is often employed when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
