As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The goal is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player moves their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. After you've successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are similar - to harm your opponent's positions with hope to improve your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is frequently used when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
