As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at particular instances. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move his checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely stop any activity of the opponent by creating a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. Once you have successfully built the prime to prevent the activity of the competitor, the competitor doesn't even get to roll the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice again. You'll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are very similar - to hinder your competitor's positions with hope to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game plan uses alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly employed when you are far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
