As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and good luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift her checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely stop any movement of the opponent by building a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's pieces will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you've successfully constructed the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You'll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar - to hinder your competitor's positions with hope to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy uses seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is frequently used when you're far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
