The aim of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull them off the game board quicker than your challenger who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a game of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and luck. How far you can move your checkers is left to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and just how you move your pieces are decided on by your overall playing techniques. Enthusiasts use different techniques in the different parts of a game depending on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game technique is to bring all your pieces into your home board and get them off as fast as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of shifting your pieces with absolutely no time spent to hit or barricade your competitor's pieces. The ideal scenario to use this technique is when you believe you might be able to shift your own checkers faster than the opponent does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor's checkers; or 3) your opponent does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary goal of the blocking strategy, by the name, is to block the competitor's checkers, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips rapidly. As soon as you have established the barrier for the opponent's movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other checkers quickly off the board. The player really should also have an apparent strategy when to withdraw and shift the chips that you used for blocking. The game gets interesting when the opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.
