The aim of a Backgammon game is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and pull them from the game board quicker than your challenger who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a round in Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you can shift your checkers is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and the way you move your pieces are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use different tactics in the differing stages of a match based on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Tactic

The goal of the Running Game technique is to entice all your checkers into your home board and pull them off as fast as you can. This strategy concentrates on the pace of advancing your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or barricade your competitor's checkers. The best scenario to use this strategy is when you think you can move your own checkers faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor's pieces; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary aim of the blocking technique, by its title, is to stop the opponent's pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your chips rapidly. After you have created the barrier for the opponent's movement with a few pieces, you can move your other pieces rapidly off the game board. The player will need to also have a good strategy when to withdraw and shift the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game gets intriguing when your opposition uses the same blocking tactic.
