The objective of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the game board and pull them off the game board quicker than your challenger who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and fortune. Just how far you can move your checkers is left to the numbers from rolling the dice, and just how you shift your chips are decided on by your overall gambling plans. Enthusiasts use differing plans in the different stages of a match depending on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your checkers into your inside board and pull them off as fast as you can. This tactic focuses on the pace of shifting your checkers with no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent's pieces. The best time to use this tactic is when you believe you might be able to move your own chips a lot faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor's checkers; or 3) the opposing player does not employ the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary goal of the blocking plan, by the title, is to stop your competitor's pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your checkers quickly. After you have established the barrier for your opponent's movement with a few chips, you can move your other chips swiftly off the board. You should also have a clear plan when to extract and move the chips that you used for blocking. The game becomes interesting when your opponent uses the same blocking tactic.
